‘Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential.’
Early Years Foundation Stage Framework 2021
At Weston Rhyn Primary School we value the important role that the Early Years plays in enabling children to engage positively and playfully in learning at school. We recognise that children start school with a variety of experiences and learning. We aim to build upon children’s prior knowledge and experiences, developing a curriculum that facilitates their learning; building a secure foundation for school life.
'Play is the work of the child.'
Maria Montessori
We believe that play is an essential part of a happy childhood. It is important for children to explore, discover, take risks and independently navigate the world around them. By providing children with a safe, secure environment, we are supporting them to become confident learners.
The playful practice embodied in our Early Years continues throughout our school as we believe that human playfulness plays an important part in enabling all learners to explore their learning. We respect and value the role that play has in the lives of our children.
‘Behind every young child who believes in themselves, is a parent who believed first.’
Matthew L. Jacobson
We recognise that parents and carers are the child’s first and most enduring educators, and we work closely with families to ensure that the relationship between home and school is strong. Successes and struggles are shared openly with parents/carers so that we can celebrate and support our children as they journey through school.
